As you Beast Slayers know, staying hydrated is very important for keeping the Beast at bay! But equally important is keeping those electrolytes balanced!
The brand of unsweetened electrolytes that we used to recommend are no longer available in the form we preferred, so we are now making our own. An added bonus? It’s MUCH cheaper!
You’ll find the recipe below. I fill up my Stanley cup in the morning, add these electrolytes, and then drink from it throughout the day.
I purchase the ingredients in bulk on Amazon (links below) and make a batch that will last about a week at a time. And while I use kosher salt in most of my cooking, I use iodized table salt here so that it dissolves more readily. (And I get some iodine.)
The citric acid gives it a nice lemony flavor, which you can dial up or down to your taste preference.
Ingredients:
1/4 c. table salt
2 tbsp magnesium citrate powder
3 tsp potassium chloride
2.5 tbsp citric acid
Mix ingredients together well. We use about 3/4 - 1 tsp per 8 oz water and stir/shake until dissolved.
So useful. I’ve spent a small fortune in the past trying to find electrolytes without sugar or sweeteners or ones that don’t taste disgusting. Thanks
Thanks for this. A really useful recipe. My electrolyte powder has sugar and I use it sparingly, so will be replaced with this from now on.
