Excellent idea! I’m looking forward to focusing on the mind’s essential nutrients.

For me one of the mind’s essential nutrients is positive social contact. Something that has been deteriorating as the world moves more and more to self serve. We can work from home, pump our own gas without talking to anyone, bank online, shop for food using Instacart, text instead of talk, etc.. It’s much more difficult to be part of a community of people than it used to be.

Other essential nutrients include learning new skills or other things, exercise, play, giving to other people.

Mind toxins for me include inactivity (couch potato days), anything negative (other people, social media, news, politicians rhetoric, having to listen to other people complain, etc). Also, how people misrepresent themselves on social media portraying a “perfect” life - it creates a false reality that only hurts others.

Interesting idea! I struggle with trying to stay well- informed without getting overwhelmed.

Agree completely, and it can be shocking even just having an easy diary like having your phone track the time spent onscreen.

I love this idea. I love information and learning. There's so much about the world that's fascinating to me and I like to stay informed, but because of the way the 'news" is generally presented (via a TV newscast or social medi or podcasts) I tend to avoid it. Or at least balance it out with videos, posts, podcasts that are informative vs newsy. All of the podcasts I follow have a positive angle, including the Miracle Moment! And I can watch cat videos for days. All that said, I'm also easily drawn into drama and would find it interesting to try an information audit. But I'm not sure how I would track it. It seems potentially time consuming since we are surrounded by "information" these days.

On Instagram or Facebook, I really enjoy the foster_kittens account. She hasn't been active in awhile, but has 100s of sweet videos of kittens. She's both funny and positive!
